Beijing six oil products approaching the world's strictest standards will be implemented next year

One of the necessary measures to reduce motor vehicle emissions and improve air quality is to continuously improve the quality of vehicle fuel. A few days ago, the "Beijing VI" phase of the standard for automobile gasoline and diesel products solicited opinions. The quality of automotive gasoline and diesel will be upgraded from the fifth phase to the sixth phase, which will achieve a 5%-10% reduction in the use of vehicle hydrocarbons.

Upgrade oil to increase purifier conversion efficiency

In accordance with the requirements of the Beijing Clean Air Action Plan, the Shanghai Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau has organized the drafting of Beijing's local standards "vehicle gasoline" (draft for solicitation) and "diesel for vehicles" (draft for soliciting opinions).

To reduce motor vehicle pollution, in addition to improving motor vehicle emission standards, the quality of vehicle fuel can also be improved. Previously, in 2004, 2005, 2008, and 2012, Beijing took the lead in implementing the second, third, fourth, and fifth stages of local oil standards. Each phase of the standard has further tightened the sulfur content.

What impact does the upgrading of oil have on the car? Wu Di, deputy researcher of the Vehicle Emissions Management Office of the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, said that the improvement of vehicle fuel quality will not only ensure the normal use of new cars, but also increase the conversion efficiency of the purifiers, making them all in use. Vehicle emissions are significantly reduced.

"Jing VI" oil reference to California and European standards

Wu Di introduced that the technical indicators in the standard exposure draft mainly refer to the California Phase III vehicle fuel oil standard and the European VI vehicle fuel oil standard, and the sulfur content remains unchanged. At the same time, we will further tighten key environmental indicators such as olefins, aromatic hydrocarbons, benzene, vapor pressure, distillation range, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in diesel, and density in gasoline.

Among them, for the olefin content, the standard for Phase III new formulation gasoline in California is not more than 10% (volume fraction), and the standard for European vehicle gasoline is not more than 18% (volume fraction), taking into account the actual practice of China's petroleum refining process. Situation, and as far as possible to the world's most stringent standards to improve fuel quality, so this time the olefin content from the five-stage "not more than 25% (volume fraction)" is tightened to "not more than 15% (volume fraction) ".

According to scientific research, olefins are chemically active and will form colloidal substances, which will cause photochemical pollution through evaporative emissions. Therefore, the olefin content will be greatly reduced, which will reduce the formation of colloids, thereby reducing the deposits of the engine intake system, and at the same time reducing ozone. And contribute to PM2.5 emissions.

In addition, reducing the PAH limits in diesel will reduce nitrogen oxides and particulate emissions. The research results at home and abroad show that the quality upgrade of automotive gasoline and diesel contributes greatly to emission reduction. It is expected that the upgrade from the fifth phase to the sixth phase will achieve a 5% to 10% reduction in the use of vehicle hydrocarbons.

The sixth phase of the oil compatibility study began in 2014. The reporter learned from the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau that Beijing will strive to implement the sixth phase of local standards for oil products in January next year.
