Chicago Still & Box Alarm fire 8-11-13
Today, at 2386 Blue Island Avenue, there was a roof fire at a commercial building. It looks like the roofers were using torches while working on some kind of multi-ply roofing system. There was some moderate smoke for a short time, but the majority of the incident involved heavy roof work. A TL5 crew made around 7 or 8 vent holes in the roof. The building was equipped with sprinklers, and as you can see from the photos, the siamese connection was charged early on. Several handlines were used inside, based on what I could observe. It was an interesting call, and definitely a tough one for the crews involved.
