New engine for Elburn FPD

Martin Nowak recently came across the detail page for Elburn & Countryside FPD’s new fire apparatus. The vehicle, designated as Custom Top Mount Pumper #2030, is set to serve the Elburn and Countryside Fire Protection District in Illinois. The truck features a Spartan Gladiator MFD 10” raised roof chassis, powered by a Cummins ISL9 diesel engine producing 450 horsepower. It comes equipped with an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission, ensuring smooth performance on the job. The body is made of heavy-duty 3/16” aluminum, featuring ROM roll-up doors for easy access. Inside, the unit includes a 1000-gallon poly tank with a 30-gallon foam tank, along with a Hale QMAX125 pump capable of 1250 GPM. The pump operator’s panel is positioned across the top of the apparatus, making it easily accessible. The truck also has multiple discharge ports, including six 2.5-inch outlets and one 4-inch and one 3-inch outlet for the deck gun. A key feature is the Akron Apollo Deck Gun, along with two 2.5-inch gated suctions and various preconnects. The Foam Pro 2002 system ensures efficient foam delivery when needed. Additional features include a front bumper extension, EMS cabinets, air bottle compartments, and a Zico hydraulic ladder rack. The vehicle is fully equipped with emergency lighting, including FRC Evolution brow lights, Whelen Pioneer scene lights, and a Whelen LED warning light package.
