Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway Completes Energy-saving Retrofit of Street Lamps
June 10th is the second national low-carbon day. The Guangdong Provincial Communications Group reported that since the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway completed the energy-saving renovation of street lamps last year, the whole line saved about 4.8 million kWh of electricity per year, equivalent to saving 1920 tons of standard coal. Reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 5,000 tons. It is reported that the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway has installed 6280 street lamps throughout the line. Before the transformation, all the traditional inductor ballast-type high-pressure sodium lamps of 250W were used. The annual electricity consumption is about 8 million degrees. The huge power consumption caused by street lighting has become increasingly prominent. In 2013, Guangshen Expressway began to carry out LED energy-saving renovation for all street lights of 122.8 kilometers across the whole line. It is the first and longest LED retrofit highway in China.
