The rapid rise of sea salt auto parts industry
A few days ago, Sunderland Fasteners (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., which invested $12.5 million, officially started production. The company specializes in high-strength automotive fasteners and other auto parts, with an expected annual output of 1.09 million tons and a sales volume of 250 million yuan. With the growing popularity of cars in China, the auto parts industry in Haiyan has experienced rapid development. Currently, there are 102 auto parts companies in the county. Last year, their total sales revenue exceeded 800 million yuan, with products like auto bulbs, jacks, and pipe joints becoming well-known production bases both domestically and internationally.
Several key products, including automotive ignition coils, friction materials, and vertical jacks, rank among the highest in China. Active private and foreign investments have become a major driving force for the industry's growth. For example, Haiyan Xianglong Bearing Co., Ltd., which mainly produces automotive bearings, invested around 40 million yuan in plant expansion and technical upgrades. In recent years, its annual output value has grown rapidly, reaching 30 million yuan, and it is on track to enter the hundred-million-yuan bracket soon.
Companies like Jiaxing Haishu Electronics, Yilin Electronics, and Jinlida Electronic have increased their focus on technological innovation, with products such as car stereos and refrigerators now making a mark in the international market. Their sales are expected to reach between 150 million and 200 million yuan. Meanwhile, Jiaxing Zhenda Automobile Standard Parts Co., Ltd. invested over 7 million yuan to produce high-strength, high-precision connecting rod bolts, with an annual output of 2 million pieces.
Haiyan Zhenda Auto Parts Co. also allocated millions of yuan to establish an annual capacity of 5,000 tons of automobile brakes and 3.3 million pieces of automotive rubber parts. Additionally, Sunderland Fasteners, India’s largest auto parts trader and distributor, is optimistic about the potential of Haiyan’s auto parts industry and plans to set up a TVS Group manufacturing base in the region.
With the acceleration of R&D in high-tech products, the quality and manufacturing level of Haiyan’s auto parts have significantly improved. In the past year alone, 19 products, including heavy-duty vehicle steel wire air Filter tubes, automotive power amplifiers, DQ171 ignition coils, and wheel hub bearings, were recognized as new provincial and municipal products by Haiyan Xusheng Co., Ltd. In addition, in-magnetic DC motors from Haiyan Xusheng and exhaust gas purifiers from Haiyan Dadongnan Science and Technology Development Company were included in national-level innovation plans.
Jiaxing Guangtai Lighting Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Institute of Electric Light Sources at Fudan University, developed a 35-watt metal halide light source with independent intellectual property rights. Its main technical parameters reached international advanced levels, breaking the reliance on imported headlights for high-end Chinese vehicles. The company now ranks among the top producers of auto bulbs in China.
Today, several auto parts products and companies in Haiyan have gained significant market shares. The "Haijian" brand ignition coils lead in sales within the domestic auto repair market. Huaqiang Resin Co., Ltd. holds the second position nationally in friction material sales. Xitangqiao Town, known as the "hometown of jacks in China," is a key production and export base for automotive maintenance tools in the province. Sea Salt pipe fittings companies dominate 80% of the domestic heavy-duty vehicle market, and they are entrusted by the State Ministry of Machinery to draft and revise standards for pipe joints across 74 countries.
Meanwhile, the international competitiveness of Haiyan’s auto parts continues to grow. Products such as automotive bulbs, rubber parts, oil pump motors, motor poles, ignition coils, car audio systems, and bearings are widely sold in Western Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Last year, the export volume reached approximately 400 million yuan.
