In the first half of the year, Xiangfan’s export growth was strong

Hubei News, August 7 (Hou Wanyong and Zhang Fengling) Xiangfan City saw a strong performance in foreign trade exports during the first half of this year. From January to June, the city's total exports reached $135 million, marking a 50% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects a positive shift in the local economy and its expanding international presence. One of the key players driving this success is Dongfeng Cummins, a major foreign trade enterprise in Xiangfan. Since the start of the year, the company has actively engaged in the global procurement network of Cummins, successfully delivering engine parts such as 4B and 6B cylinders, cylinder heads, and connecting rods. In the first half of the year, its export volume more than doubled compared to the same period last year, showcasing its growing role in the international market. The city's export structure has also evolved significantly. The share of mechanical and electrical products in total exports has risen sharply. In the first half of the year, electromechanical products generated $50.21 million in foreign exchange earnings, an impressive 69.3% increase from the previous year. This trend highlights the city’s increasing specialization in high-value manufacturing and technology-driven exports. In addition to large enterprises, various trading entities in Xiangfan have maintained steady growth. Local production companies contributed $67.47 million in exports, while foreign-funded enterprises and foreign trade companies saw even stronger results, with export volumes rising by 71.7% and 69.7% respectively. This indicates a broad-based recovery across different sectors of the city’s foreign trade. Notably, the export market landscape has changed significantly compared to previous years. India has now become Xiangfan’s largest trade partner, with mechanical and electrical products and bedding being the main export categories. This shift not only diversifies the city’s trade relationships but also opens up new opportunities for long-term economic development.
