Still and Box Alarm in Chicago, 10-8-18
I was downtown for the marathon when a Still and Box alarm, along with an EMS Plan 1, came in just after 1 p.m. for a reported subway fire on the CTA Red Line at 230 S. State Street. E1 and AT1 were dispatched to check it out, but they found nothing. According to the radio traffic, it turned out to be a malfunction with one of the elevated train cars—no smoke or fire at all. Given that the marathon was happening, there was a heavy police presence, as well as the usual fire department response. It was quite a scene with so many emergency vehicles and people around.
