What are the barriers to quality diaper testing?

As a commonly used baby product, the quality of diapers is of great concern to parents.

Bacteria, pH, and leakage are important indicators of whether diapers are qualified or not. Then how did diapers pass the test? Yesterday, the reporter accompanied the staff of the Haidian Branch of the Industry and Commerce Bureau to send 15 samples from the market to the national paper quality. Supervise the inspection center and experience the whole process of testing. Relevant staff also gave advice to parents on how to choose diapers.

Secret detection process

1 Microbiological testing

The detection room needs to be sterilized by ultraviolet light for half an hour, and then the inspectors are dressed as if they were surgeons. The examiner took 10 grams of samples with scissors, soaked in physiological saline for a while, and removed and placed them in the medium.

The inspectors said that the medium is equivalent to a nutrient environment in which plants grow, a fungal culture medium, a pathogenic culture medium, a solid, and a liquid. The culture medium is then placed in an incubator at different temperatures to allow the bacteria to grow in a suitable environment.

As soon as the time arrives, the inspector removes the culture medium and uses a professional tool to perform observations and observations to find out if there is a bacterial growth and determine whether or not to exceed the standard.

2 Chemical testing

The moisture content and pH of diapers were mainly tested. The inspector will put the sample into a container filled with saline and soak it, stir it. After about 10 minutes, put the professional instrument into it and judge whether it exceeds the standard according to the value. According to national standards, a pH value between 4 and 8 is a qualified product.

3 Physical detection

Physical testing is relatively simple, including appearance, deviation, and permeability. Deviations also include dimensional deviations and weight deviations; permeation performance includes slippage, back-osmosis, and leakage.

When testing the amount of slippery fluid, the inspector placed a piece of diaper on the side of the tester and poured physiological saline from the top down. The diaper was placed under the diaper. If the salt water falls through the diaper into the vessel, it is not qualified. The amount of infusion is determined according to the model of the diaper. The size of the large diaper is 80 liter, the medium number is 60 liter and the trumpet is 40 liter.

The amount of osmosis and leakage were tested together. The inspector placed the diaper on the weighing paper, then poured physiological saline into the diaper, and then put the test paper with the weight on it, and pressed it with an object. The amount of pouring is the same as the test slip volume.

The inspectors said that the physiological saline was poured twice, and that it would take five minutes and then a second time after the first fall. After 5 minutes, put the test strip on top and press for one minute before picking it up again. Afterwards, the upper and lower test strips were weighed separately, and the immersion weight minus the weight before the test allowed the test to determine whether the amount of bleed and leakage was acceptable. The following test strips measure the amount of leakage, and the test strip above tests the amount of osmosis.

How to choose diapers

Look for the self-test quality after buying

Haidian District Industrial and Commercial Bureau staff said that parents should go through formal channels when purchasing diapers. To see if there is a factory name for its logo, whether it is an executive standard or not. If it is an imported product, it also depends on whether there is a Chinese logo.

Zuo Jianbo, an engineer at the National Paper Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, said that parents can also test the quality of diapers at home. You can use proper amount of salt water or ordinary tap water to pour it on. If there is water drop, it proves that there is a problem of slippery infiltration. If there is water or moisture on the outside of the diaper, the leakage amount may not be off.

In addition, when selecting diapers, it is important to carefully check whether the edges of the product are sufficiently soft. The skin inside the baby's thigh is delicate. If the diaper's edge is too hard, it can easily scratch the skin. The texture of the diapers is uniform and thick, which proves that the products are of good quality. If they feel thick and thin and have poor feel, the urine may leak out in thin places after use.

The reason for the red butt

First, pathogenic bacteria can cause red ass. Pathogens not only cause baby skin allergies, but once they enter the body, they are difficult to get rid of. If they enter the bloodstream, they may even cause some serious diseases.

In recent years, the detection rate of pathogenic bacteria in diapers is very low, but the total number of bacterial and fungal colonies has been seriously exceeded, which is also an important cause of red ass. Poor transportation environment and poor storage environment are the main reasons for bacteria and fungi in diapers exceeding the standards. The diapers produced by some small workshops are not sterile. Direct contact with hands can also result in a large number of colonies.

Second, too high or too low pH can cause red butt.

Third, if the amount of oozing exceeds the standard, the baby's urine will leak from the diaper. When the baby's skin is immersed in urine for a long time, red buttock will appear easily. Similarly, if the amount of osmosis is excessive, the urine will leak back into the baby's skin for a long time, which will also cause red butt.
