Autodesk Kicks Off Autodesk University 2020 Digital Conference
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., November 16, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Autodesk University – This week, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) is welcoming innovators from all corners of the globe—designers, engineers, architects, and creators—to its very first fully digital conference experience: Autodesk University (AU) 2020. Taking place from Tuesday, November 17 to Friday, November 20, 2020, this multi-day event invites participants to join Autodesk in reimagining possibilities across the construction, manufacturing, architecture, engineering, and media creation sectors.
While Autodesk's annual AU conferences have traditionally been held in-person worldwide, this year's transition to a digital platform was prompted by the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual experience allows attendees to explore innovative approaches to imagining, designing, and creating, while ensuring the ongoing health and safety of the Autodesk community.
"AUTODESK UNIVERSITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GREAT PLATFORM FOR US TO ENGAGE WITH CUSTOMERS AND PARTNERS," noted Lisa Campbell, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Strategy and Marketing at Autodesk. "THIS YEAR'S DIGITAL FORMAT IS UNIQUE, BUT IT CREATES NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO CONNECT AND LEARN FROM EACH OTHER IN COMPLETELY NEW WAYS. TOGETHER, WE WILL REIMAGINE WHAT’S POSSIBLE, REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU ARE IN THE WORLD."
Day one of AU 2020 kicks off with eight hours of continuous live programming. The opening session features Autodesk President and CEO Andrew Anagnost alongside customers like James Hepburn, Principal at BDP Engineering, Charles Cambianica, Advanced Design Project Leader at Decathlon, and Steve Emerson, VFX Supervisor at LAIKA Studios. Together, they will delve into how industries have adapted to technology in 2020 and the pivotal role that data, automation, and insights play in fueling innovation moving forward.
Additional day one content includes three industry-focused keynotes highlighting how Autodesk technology empowers professionals to sustainably adapt in today’s rapidly changing world. During the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) keynote, Autodesk leadership and Norconsult Technology Manager Marius Jablonskis will examine the transformative shifts the industry has undergone in 2020, along with strategies for leveraging technology to overcome challenges and foster resilience. Later, Hyundai's John Suh will join to discuss the integration of advanced technologies such as generative design in the design and manufacturing (D&M) sector, emphasizing paths toward continuous digital transformation. Finally, attendees will hear from Autodesk leaders and LAIKA Studios' Steve Emerson about how the company's latest media and entertainment (M&E) tools help streamline processes and build scalable connections through cloud-based, data-driven solutions.
The virtual conference continues through Friday, November 20, offering three additional days filled with classes, roundtables, panels, and industry meetings. Even if you miss the live broadcasts, all sessions, events, and activities will be available for on-demand viewing.
Autodesk has also transformed the AU Expo into a virtual experience, allowing attendees to explore from the comfort of their homes. Open 24/7 during AU and accessible for a total of 30 days, this year's Expo showcases over 100 solution providers and cutting-edge technologies advancing the AEC, D&M, and M&E industries. Participants can visit user-friendly virtual booths to watch videos, download resources, attend demos, and connect directly with experts.
Autodesk remains committed to fostering a sustainable future alongside innovators who create positive social and environmental impacts. During AU 2020, the Autodesk Foundation will match up to $50,000 in donations to two organizations: Splash and MASS Design Group. Splash delivers safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions for children in vulnerable communities affected by the pandemic, while MASS Design is a nonprofit collective dedicated to building architecture rooted in justice and human dignity.
For the sixth consecutive year, AU will be a carbon-neutral event—a commitment strengthened by Autodesk's pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions in 2020 through investments in efficiency, renewables, and carbon offset projects. The virtual format further supports this goal by eliminating the carbon footprint associated with traditional in-person events.
