Autodesk Revit 2015 Subscribers Get Slew of New Capabilities with “R2†Update
Autodesk has released an updated version of Revit 2015 R2, now available to Maintenance and Desktop Subscription customers. This latest update brings over 30 new features that enhance performance, improve productivity, and offer more powerful tools for architects, MEP engineers, and structural professionals.
The Revit R2 release reflects Autodesk’s commitment to delivering value to its subscribers by providing access to the latest BIM technologies. Jim Lynch, Vice President of Building and Collaboration Products at Autodesk, stated, “Our customers are always looking for ways to increase efficiency and leverage the most advanced tools available. This update is designed to help them meet their business goals and exceed client expectations.â€
In addition to user-driven enhancements, Autodesk has introduced the Site Designer Extension for Revit 2015, which allows users to create and manage site models directly within the Revit environment. This tool, based on the acquisition of Eagle Point Software’s SiteWorks, enables architects, planners, and designers to shape terrain, model grading, and collaborate more effectively with civil engineers using Land XML files.
The release also includes a preview of the new functionality through the "Revit Sundial" hosted experience, which was well received by early users. The final version of Revit 2015 R2 is a subscription-only release, offering improved speed and performance for handling complex data-heavy views.
Revit 2015 R2 is fully compatible with existing Revit 2015 releases and does not require a file format change. It installs seamlessly without disrupting ongoing projects. Key improvements include enhanced energy analysis, better support for IFC links, faster rendering, and improved navigation in PDFs.
With this update, Autodesk continues to focus on making BIM workflows more efficient and intuitive. The development team is dedicated to helping users achieve their design goals with greater ease and precision.
Revit 2015 R2 is now available globally in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and more. The Site Designer Extension is available exclusively to select subscription customers and offers a powerful new way to integrate site planning into BIM workflows.
