Autodesk Revit 2015 Subscribers Get Slew of New Capabilities with “R2†Update
Autodesk has launched an updated version of Revit 2015 R2, offering new features and improvements for Building Information Modeling (BIM) to Maintenance Subscription and Desktop Subscription customers. This release includes over 30 enhancements based on direct customer feedback, designed to boost productivity, performance, and functionality for architects, MEP engineers, and structural professionals.
The Revit R2 updates not only address user requests but also provide greater value to subscription holders by giving them access to the latest BIM technologies. Jim Lynch, Vice President of Building and Collaboration Products at Autodesk, emphasized that the update is aimed at helping users meet their business goals and exceed client expectations with advanced tools.
In line with this release, Autodesk has introduced the Site Designer Extension for Revit 2015, which allows architects and planners to shape building sites directly within Revit. This tool, built on acquired technology from Eagle Point Software Corporation, enables seamless collaboration between Revit and AutoCAD Civil 3D through Land XML files.
Revit 2015 R2 also introduces several powerful new features, including enhanced energy performance dashboards, improved handling of IFC models, better constraint visibility, and the integration of Dynamo for visual programming. Performance improvements include faster editing of site models, more efficient energy analysis, and quicker rendering of complex views.
Additionally, the update brings productivity-focused tools such as perspective view adjustments, group editing for walls, improved search functions, and hyperlinked PDF navigation. These changes are intended to make the design process smoother and more intuitive.
Available in multiple languages, Revit 2015 R2 is now accessible worldwide to eligible subscribers. The Site Designer Extension is available to selected customers, further expanding the capabilities of Revit for site planning and design.
