Autodesk Launches Free Building Performance Analysis Certificate Program Sustainability and climate change are at the forefront of today's design industry. To support this growing need, Autodesk has launched a new free online program called the Autodesk® Building Performance Analysis (BPA) Certificate Program. This initiative is aimed at architecture and engineering students who want to gain essential skills in designing high-performance buildings. The course includes self-paced tutorials, quizzes, and hands-on exercises using Autodesk software. It complements existing certifications like LEED and equips students with knowledge that may not be covered in traditional curricula, helping them stand out in the job market. "We're witnessing a major shift toward performance-based sustainable design," said Adam Menter, Sustainability Education Program Manager at Autodesk. "The BPA Certificate Program is designed to help students make that transition. We expect thousands of students to complete it by the end of the year, and we'll be launching a similar program for professionals later this fall." In addition to the certificate program, Autodesk has also introduced a global design competition for architecture and engineering students. In collaboration with urban revitalization expert Majora Carter, the Transformation 2030 Competition invites participants to design a high-performance building that could replace a shuttered juvenile detention center in the South Bronx. Students will have the chance to create a community garden and culinary arts center, gaining real-world experience through the use of Autodesk Green Building Studio, Revit, and Vasari. Registration is open until January 1st, with submissions due on April 1st. Winners will be announced on May 1st, with prizes including internships or cash awards. This initiative reflects Autodesk's ongoing commitment to supporting education and innovation in sustainable design. By offering free resources and engaging students in real-world challenges, the company is helping shape the next generation of architects and engineers who are ready to tackle the environmental challenges of the future.
