Box Alarm in LaGrange Park 7-24-12
It was another busy day for the LaGrange Park Fire Department. As I was scrolling through my social media feed, I came across a post from Josh Boyajian that caught my attention. He mentioned there had been a box alarm in LaGrange Park earlier that afternoon, which turned out to be quite significant. It seemed like a fallen power line had sparked a fire at a house and its attached garage, located directly across the street from one another. Mutual aid quickly arrived from surrounding areas, including a brand-new battalion buggy from Tri-State and Bellwood's impressive tower ladder. I could tell from his photos that the situation was intense, but thankfully, the firefighters managed to get the blaze under control fairly quickly.
I also found a report from The La Grange Patch, which confirmed what Josh had shared. According to their account, the LaGrange Park Fire Department responded to the fire at 1401 Newbury around 3:24 p.m. on July 24th. Within just 25 minutes, the flames were extinguished. A total of six departments were involved in the operation: La Grange Park, Oak Brook, North Riverside, Pleasantview, Bellwood, Hinsdale, and Westmont. Their combined efforts made all the difference.
