If you're a user of the Valve Steam Deck with an LCD screen, you might have noticed that the display quality doesn't always meet your expectations. Fortunately, there's a promising upgrade called DeckSight that allows you to replace the original screen with a 1080P AMOLED panel without major modifications. This upgrade offers sharper images, more vibrant colors, and superior black levels—making it a game-changer for many users.

Choose between a matte or glossy screen finish

DeckSight isn’t just about a better screen—it also features an integrated touch display that is optically bonded to a custom cover glass, enhancing both durability and responsiveness. Although final specs are still being tested, early reports suggest that this upgrade will deliver higher peak brightness, faster refresh rates, and improved battery life compared to the stock LCD panel.

Installation

Replacing the screen on your Steam Deck isn't too complicated, especially with the help of the iFixit guide (https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Steam+Deck+Screen+Replacement/148986). The process involves removing the original LCD and installing the new AMOLED panel. A redesigned FPC ribbon cable is included to ensure compatibility with the new display.

To make use of DeckSight, you’ll need to apply a custom BIOS patch from Shade Technik’s GitHub repository. Importantly, this change is reversible—you can always restore the original Steam Deck BIOS and switch back to the stock LCD if needed.

Note: DeckSight is not compatible with the 2023 OLED models of the Steam Deck.
