Daimler laid the foundation stone for the joint venture commercial vehicle factory in Fujian
By Daimler Automotive AG, Fujian Automobile Industry Group, and Taiwan Zhonghua Automobile Co., Ltd., Fujian Daimler Automotive Industry Co., Ltd. was established in Fujian Province, marking a significant step in the collaboration between Chinese and German automotive industries.
The planned factory covers an area of 130,000 square meters and includes key facilities such as a body construction workshop, a paint drying tunnel, and an assembly line. The facility is set to begin operations in mid-2009. In its first phase, the plant will produce 40,000 MPVs annually, with 20,000 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters and 20,000 Vito/Viano models expected to roll off the production line each year.
This joint venture highlights the growing partnership between Daimler and local Chinese manufacturers, aiming to meet the rising demand for commercial vehicles in the region. The project is seen as a strategic move to strengthen Daimler's presence in the Chinese market and support the development of the domestic automotive industry.
