Electroplating wastewater recycling technology won the national promotion
Xiamen Visab Membrane Technology Co., Ltd. has developed an advanced electroplating wastewater recycling technology that was recognized as a national key environmental protection practical technology in 2008. This innovative system is widely applied in medical ultrapure water, industrial high-purity water production, domestic and industrial wastewater treatment, offering significant advantages in efficiency and sustainability.
The process begins with comprehensive pretreatment of the integrated wastewater, which is then stored in a centralized tank for further processing. After adding a precipitant, the clarified water is sent to a membrane recovery system, where approximately 85% of the water is reclaimed for use in production. The remaining 15% concentrated wastewater undergoes specialized chemical treatment. This technology not only recovers valuable heavy metals like chromium from plating tanks but also returns treated water back to rinsing tanks, achieving both economic benefits and environmental protection.
According to rough estimates, there are around 15,000 chemical electroplating plants in China, discharging about 400 million tons of wastewater annually, including heavy metals. Traditional chemical methods often come with high costs, resource wastage, and secondary pollution. In contrast, Xiamen Visab’s membrane recovery technology integrates chemical treatment, membrane separation, vacuum evaporation, and biochemical methods, significantly improving performance. It boosts metal ion recovery rates from 95% to 99%, increases water recovery from 80% to 85%, and enhances metal concentration up to 300 times.
Currently, Xiamen Visab has installed four electroplating wastewater recycling systems for Luda Xiamen Industry Co., Ltd. These systems recover nickel ions and reuse clean water, with water quality comparable or even better than tap water. As a result, Luda Company saves 20,000 tons of water annually, recovers 5 tons of nickel, and cuts chemical treatment costs by 200,000 yuan.
To date, Xiamen Visab Membrane Technology Co., Ltd. has deployed nearly 500 water treatment systems across industries such as electronics, medicine, and electroplating. These systems operate efficiently and have earned positive feedback from customers, reinforcing the company’s reputation as a leader in sustainable water management solutions.
