Full Still Alarm in Stickney, 7-4-16
**July 4, 2016 – Stickney, IL Fire Incident Report by Drew Gresik**
Around 3:10 PM today, the Stickney, IL Fire Department received a call reporting a house fire at 4144 Elmwood Avenue. Given that the location is just two blocks away from the firehouse, Engine 1201 and Truck 1204 were quickly dispatched. By the time they left the station, smoke was already visible.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke billowing from a 1.5-story ordinary dwelling. Engine 1201 immediately launched an aggressive interior attack, detecting fire in the attic area. Two lines were deployed, with one successfully used to extinguish the flames. Meanwhile, the roof was opened to allow ventilation, and firefighters worked diligently for approximately one and a half hours until the scene was secure enough to return to quarters.
Multiple units responded to this incident, including Stickney’s Engines 1201 and 1203, Truck 1204, Forest View Engine 813, Central Stickney T906, and several chiefs from Stickney. It was a coordinated effort, and all teams played critical roles in managing the situation effectively.
I’ve included some photos I took during the operation. The first image shows a Forest View firefighter on-site, followed by a shot of several crew members assessing the aftermath of the fire. There’s also a great photo of Stickney firefighter Josh Boyajian, along with a shot of Deputy Chief Jeff Boyajian, who was instrumental in leading the response efforts. You’ll see another image of a firefighter conducting overhaul work to ensure the fire is fully extinguished, and finally, a photo capturing multiple Stickney fire trucks ready for action.
It was a busy but successful day for our local firefighters, and I’m grateful I could document their hard work.
