Product Design & Manufacturing Collection gets massive additions--at no additional cost

Simulation and CAM are now included to make product development more complete and connected

I’ve spent a lot of time talking with manufacturers across industries like automotive, industrial machinery, and consumer products. One thing has become very clear: they want a simpler, more integrated software experience. They’re looking for one unified set of tools that can communicate seamlessly. This way, designers can easily hand off 3D models to engineers for simulation and testing, and engineers can then pass the final designs to the production team for machining.

Take the example of a company like Briggs Automotive Company (BAC), a UK-based supercar manufacturer. They need to turn their stunning design concepts into real-world engineering solutions that can be digitally simulated for performance and manufactured on CNC machines. To do this efficiently, they must avoid the constant file conversions and repairs that come with traditional workflows—and the risks those introduce to change management.

In response to this growing demand from manufacturers, we've made a major update to what was previously known as our Product Design Collection. We're adding simulation and CAM tools to the already comprehensive suite of design and engineering tools. As a result, we're rebranding it as the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection.

Specifically, we're including two powerful tools: Nastran In-CAD for simulation and Autodesk HSM for CAM. These two tools used to cost over $7,000 annually when purchased separately. But because we believe in the power of integrating design, engineering, and manufacturing, we're offering them at no extra cost to the collection. The total price remains just $2,460 per year in the U.S.

With these updates now available, the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection offers all the professional-grade tools any product development team needs—from initial design and engineering through to full-scale production. It’s a fully integrated suite of 2D and 3D CAD, CAE, and CAM applications for product development and manufacturing planning.

Another way to look at this is that it delivers the best Inventor experience we’ve ever created. The advanced modeling and automation features of Inventor Professional are now paired with simulation, 5-axis CAM, and factory planning tools—all seamlessly integrated into the Inventor environment.

Subscribers also gain access to a future-ready toolset. While not every update will be as significant as this one, we’re committed to continuous improvements, incorporating new technologies like Fusion 360 and features such as generative design.

You still get AutoCAD, Navisworks, Vault, ReCap Pro, 3ds Max, Factory Design Utilities, and more.

In short, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts—but the parts are already pretty impressive.

These updated workflows take Inventor beyond its traditional design focus and into the world of manufacturing, helping customers achieve more than ever before.

Don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what Ian Briggs, Co-Founder and Design Director at BAC, had to say:

“We use Autodesk’s manufacturing software extensively throughout our entire product development process—from reality capture to design, engineering, fabrication, and visualization. The fact that Autodesk is adding simulation and CAM to the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection at no additional cost is a huge benefit for us and other manufacturers who want a complete, integrated set of tools.”

The Product Design & Manufacturing Collection is available globally, with software offered in more than eight languages, including English, German, Japanese, French, and Chinese.
