Working fire in the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD, 6/27/15
Late last night, the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District received a call about smoke emanating from a townhouse located on Catbird Lane in an unincorporated area within their jurisdiction. Responding units were the first to arrive on the scene, quickly noticing signs of smoke. They immediately escalated the situation to a Code 4 for an active fire. Firefighters worked swiftly to extinguish the flames, which had originated near one of the second-floor bedrooms.
Units from the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD that were dispatched included Engines 51 and 52, Truck 53, Battalion 51, and Ambulance 52. Mutual aid support came from neighboring departments such as Wheeling (T24), Buffalo Grove (BN 4 and E26), Prospect Heights (S9), a Lake Zurich ambulance, and additional chiefs from Long Grove and Countryside.
Attached are several images captured by local photographers Larry Shapiro and Dan McInerney. One striking photograph shows a Pierce fire engine positioned strategically at the scene, while another captures a firefighter cutting a ventilation hole in the roof—a critical step in managing attic fires. Additional shots highlight the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies working together to bring the situation under control.
The aftermath reveals significant damage but also demonstrates the effectiveness of teamwork among emergency responders. For those interested in more visuals, additional photos can be found at shapirophotography.net.
