Autodesk Kicks Off Autodesk University 2020 Digital Conference
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., November 16, 2020 /PRNewswire/ – Autodesk University – This week, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) is hosting innovators from across the globe—designers, engineers, builders, and creators—for its very first fully digital conference experience: Autodesk University (AU) 2020. Taking place from Tuesday, November 17th to Friday, November 20th, 2020, this multi-day, interactive event invites participants to join Autodesk in rethinking what's possible within industries like construction, manufacturing, architecture, engineering, and media creation.
As the PR states, while Autodesk's annual AU conferences have traditionally been held in person around the world, this year's move to a digital platform was prompted by the unprecedented challenges brought on by the pandemic. This virtual format allows attendees to discover fresh approaches to imagining, designing, and producing, all while ensuring the ongoing health and safety of the Autodesk community.

The first day of AU 2020 begins with eight straight hours of live broadcasts. Kicking things off is a general session featuring Autodesk President and CEO Andrew Anagnost alongside customers James Hepburn, Principal at BDP Engineering, Decathlon Advanced Design Project Leader Charles Cambianica, and LAIKA Studios VFX Supervisor Steve Emerson. Together, they'll delve into how industries have embraced technology throughout 2020, as well as the role that data, automation, and insights play in enabling innovators to achieve new possibilities moving forward.
Day One also features three industry-specific keynotes highlighting how Autodesk technology empowers the workforce to thrive sustainably in today's rapidly changing world.
During the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) keynote, Autodesk leadership and Norconsult Technology Manager Marius Jablonskis will examine the significant shifts the industry has undergone in 2020, along with how teams are using technology to turn challenges into opportunities and maintain resilience. Following that, Hyundai Vice President and New Horizons Studio Founding Director John Suh will discuss the adoption of technologies like generative design in the design and manufacturing (D&M) sector, along with strategies for continued digital transformation. Lastly, attendees will hear from Autodesk leaders and LAIKA Studios VFX Supervisor Steve Emerson on how Autodesk's latest media and entertainment (M&E) technology streamlines processes and fosters scalable connections between teams, studios, and ecosystems via cloud-based, data-driven solutions.

Throughout AU 2020, the Autodesk Foundation is matching up to $50,000 in donations to two organizations making a positive and sustainable impact: Splash and MASS Design Group. Splash delivers safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions for children in vulnerable communities affected by the pandemic, while MASS Design is a nonprofit design collective dedicated to building architecture centered on justice and human dignity.
For the sixth consecutive year, AU will be a Carbon Neutral event, reinforcing Autodesk's commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions in 2020 by investing in efficiency, renewables, and carbon offset projects. The virtual format further supports this commitment by reducing the need to measure, minimize, and offset the carbon footprint associated with traditional in-person events.
