Autodesk Launches Free Building Performance Analysis Certificate Program Sustainability and climate change have become central to the architecture and engineering fields. To support this growing need, Autodesk has launched a new free Building Performance Analysis (BPA) Certificate Program, designed specifically for students in architecture and engineering. This online initiative provides essential building science knowledge through self-paced learning modules, quizzes, and hands-on exercises using Autodesk software. The program complements LEED accreditation and equips students with skills that are highly valued in today’s competitive job market. "We're witnessing a major shift toward performance-based sustainable design," said Adam Menter, Sustainability Education Program Manager at Autodesk. "The BPA Certificate Program is an important step in helping students and professionals adapt to this evolving industry. By the end of the year, thousands of students will complete the program, and we plan to roll out a similar offering for professionals later this fall." To further engage students, Autodesk also announced the Transformation 2030 Design Competition, developed in partnership with urban revitalization expert Majora Carter. This global competition invites architecture and engineering students to design a high-performance community space—specifically, a community garden and culinary arts center to replace a former juvenile detention center in the South Bronx. Participants will use Autodesk Green Building Studio, Revit, and Vasari as part of their design process. Registration is open until January 1st, with submissions due by April 1st. Winners will be announced on May 1st and will receive either an internship opportunity or a cash prize. This initiative not only supports academic growth but also encourages real-world problem-solving and innovation in sustainable design. With free access to advanced tools and educational resources, Autodesk continues to empower the next generation of architects and engineers to create smarter, greener buildings for the future.
