Xu Desheng, the deputy county magistrate of Luliang County who was directly involved in the rescue efforts, spoke with Xinhua News Agency. He emphasized that the cooperation between all parties involved allowed for the preparation work to be completed ahead of schedule, enabling the operation to start several hours earlier than planned. "There were no casualties at the well or the killing site, and the situation remains safe," he said. Xu also confirmed that the evacuated residents would be allowed to return to their homes in the afternoon of the 3rd. He added that the relevant follow-up procedures, including environmental monitoring and community support, would begin immediately to ensure the safety and well-being of the local population.
