Mainland showcases various technologies that help improve economic efficiency and efficiency in Hanover

International auto parts supplier German Continental Group exhibited at this year's International Commercial Vehicle Show (IAA) in Hanover, Germany, focused on economy and efficiency. In the hall area of Hall A06/B05, with an area of 600 square meters, Continental has exhibited a large number of innovative technologies, products and services that make commercial vehicle manufacturers safer, more economical and cleaner, and further realize intelligent networking. And convenient operation. The theme of this exhibition is "One goal: efficiency." Continental exhibited many technological innovations in terms of automotive trends such as safety, environment, and information, and efficiency, including innovative driver assistance and braking systems, automotive networking and operational concepts, drive technologies, and sensors. Interior materials and tires.

“Operating costs can be reduced only when the number of accidents in trucks, transport cars or buses is reduced, fuel consumption is reduced as much as possible, and smarter data exchange with drivers and the environment is possible. The lowest total cost can be realized and the operating economy can be achieved. Sex," said Dr. Elmar Degenhart, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Continental Group, explained, "Our focus at this year's IAA is on industry issues - efficiency. We hope to demonstrate that we can provide our customers with a wide range of product and system expertise. Various solutions that help improve the efficiency of commercial vehicles."

From an efficiency point of view, the Continental Group’s upcoming new generation of bus and truck tire products will be the focus of the show. This will be the first time that the Continental Group has exhibited third-generation tire products at IAA. Through these new tire products that will be launched in mid-2013, Continental will integrate advanced tire products that contribute to efficiency, safety and comfort into its global product range. The advent of third-generation tires allows customers to obtain products that are developed and optimized for the target user group, which simplifies the work of vehicle managers, from tire selection to the provision of service solutions.

As an important service solution, Continental has exhibited the Conti360 FleetServices, a vehicle management system. Conti 360° FleetServices provides modular services that support individual and expert tire management tailored to specific customer needs. The vehicle manager can thus ensure that his car tyres are always in optimum working condition, the administrative workload and costs are kept low and the cost can be easily calculated. At the same time, Continental also provides mobile services for international vehicle management in 13 European countries.

In the “safety” major trend area of the booth, the emphasis was on driver assistance and braking systems. The MK100ESCXT electronic brake system is a major highlight. This is the first time Continental has exhibited the system at IAA. The system's volume production schedule is scheduled for 2015. It is an extension of the modular and scalable MK100 family. These products allow the use of anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and electronic stability control systems (ESC) in various types of vehicles, resulting in more space and weight savings . The MK100ESCXT was developed specifically for heavy-duty vehicles or trucks. Its main purpose is to support active safety by enhancing braking strength. The MK100ESCXT therefore offers all standard ESC functions, including the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and the full speed range ACC (FSA) that is additionally available as a premium version. In addition, due to the simple software customization, this advanced version can be used in hybrid vehicles with an efficiency of 98% in braking energy recovery. This provides customers with complete installation compatibility for ICVs and hybrid vehicles.

The “Environment” Megatrend Zone showcased products and solutions for reducing CO2 emissions. Continental has demonstrated its system expertise through innovative solutions for exhaust gas aftertreatment, which facilitates compliance with exhaust emission standards such as EuroVI (2013) and US10/Tier4f. The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and diesel particulate filtering (DPF) technologies for nitrogen oxides (NOx) used to remove particulate emissions from truck exhausts play an important role in this regard. During the SCR process, an aqueous urea solution (AdBlue) injected into the exhaust stream can convert the nitrogen oxides in the catalytic converter.

Continental has provided important components for this process: Since 2013, the newly developed air-cooled AdBlue injectors for light duty vehicles will be put into mass production. At the same time, the Continental Group is also developing water-cooled injectors for trucks. ContiTech's heated hose line module is also part of the SCR system technology.

Other highlights of the exhibition also contribute to environmental protection: For example, newly developed fuel quality sensors can be used to determine the quality of the fuel, thereby optimizing fuel injection. The new air spring system with plastic pistons can reduce the weight of each axle by up to 12 kg, thereby reducing fuel consumption. The use of renewable resources in cockpit interior materials is another major contribution to achieving a more environmentally friendly car.

The “Information” major trend area mainly showcases the concept of car networking and operation. Continental will exhibit a smart camera system for commercial vehicles for the first time at IAA. Through this camera system, the driver can observe the 360-degree range around the vehicle in real time. This can help truck drivers to maneuver, help bus drivers safely leave crowded bus stops, and help construction vehicle drivers locate their machines with centimeter accuracy. An efficient control computer working in the background can load the camera's digital signal into 2D or 3D images. Therefore, this new system enables commercial vehicle drivers to have the best bird's eye view in critical situations. In the display of information trends, Continental also exhibited a large number of product developments related to the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and tire pressure monitoring system, as well as the latest research results for future cockpits of commercial vehicles.

With sales of 30.5 billion euros in 2011, Continental AG is one of the world's leading suppliers of automotive parts. The Group's business covers braking systems, powertrains and chassis systems and components, instrumentation, infotainment systems, automotive electronics, tires and industrial rubber products. It is committed to driving safety and environmental protection. Continental AG is also an excellent partner in automotive network communications. Continental employs approximately 169,000 people worldwide in 46 countries.
