Apartments burn in Bridgeview 7-16-12

This message comes from Keith Grzadziel: Around midday today, the Bridgeview Fire Department received a call to respond to a fire at 7340 West 86th Street. When Battalion 40 arrived on scene, they were met with intense flames engulfing all three floors on the Division A side of the building. In response, they called for a full still on Box #42. Bridgeview Engine 416 quickly deployed their deck gun, successfully dousing much of the fire. Firefighters then advanced a skid line to the third floor to tackle the flames that had spread into the eastern unit through the eaves. Due to the fire's extensive spread within the mansard and roof, crews faced significant overhaul efforts. Assisting Bridgeview were units from Bedford Park, Evergreen Park, North Palos, and Roberts Park, all bringing trucks, as well as Oak Lawn, which sent an ambulance. [Attached are several photos capturing the scene from various angles.] Keith Grzadziel took these images. --- I just got off the phone with my neighbor who lives nearby. She said she could see the smoke from her window and heard the sirens. It was quite a scare for everyone in the neighborhood. The fire department did an amazing job containing it so quickly. We’re all just thankful it didn’t spread further. I’ll keep you updated if I hear anything more about the situation or any potential evacuations.
