Box Alarm in West Chicago, 4-15-15

Around 0625 this morning, the West Chicago Fire Protection District (FPD) responded to a dryer fire that hadn’t yet spread beyond its initial location at 704 Washington Street, inside the General Mills plant. When firefighters arrived, they discovered a massive dryer—about the size of several semi-trailers lined up end-to-end—engulfed in flames on the third floor. The situation quickly escalated, prompting the initial dispatch to be upgraded first to a general alarm and then to a MABAS ( Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) callout for additional resources.
By the time it was all said and done, crews had the fire under control in roughly 45 minutes. From a photographer's standpoint, there wasn't much dynamic action to capture, but John still managed to snap some shots from the scene.

Even though the fire itself didn’t provide a lot of visually striking moments, capturing these images still tells an important story about how the emergency response team worked together to handle the situation efficiently. It’s always fascinating to see how they manage large-scale incidents like this one!
